Lady who lunches (and breakfasts...)

So, we have been slacking off a bit with the picture taking this week. Vivi has put in a request for photos of Leah sitting up & awake. If we can ever create that situation, AND have someone around to take a picture of it, we'll get that done. In the mean time, Leah had another exciting lunch date on Thursday. Here she is with her friend (and fellow United Way baby) Samuel Galbraith. It has been suggested that Leah is already dating older men - Sam was born 4 days before she was! Both Leah & Samuel slept well through a lunch at Fellini's. Hopefully next time we can get a picture of them together when eyes are open.

Leah & Daddy also had their fist solo outing on Sunday morning. They met Uncle Eric & cousin Sophie at Goldberg's for breakfast (allowing Mommy to sleep late, get a pedicure and run in to Target!). Not only did Leah visit with her uncle & cousin, but she also ran into cousins Kevin, Eve, Caroline, Simon, Annie & Janine AND Daddy Erwin. How would Goldberg's stay in business without this family?!?!? - J

An important cultural right of passage...

We present to you an important milestone for all Jewish Atlantan babies: Leah's first trip to Goldberg's. We had lunch there today with Daddy Erwin & Bubbe. While she isn't quite ready to try the corned beef, Leah definitely enjoyed the ambiance (and Bubbe enjoyed showing her off!).

Leah's Lair

For months, people have been asking "Is the nursery ready?" or "What does the nursery look like?". Our answers have been "No, the furniture is ordered but not here." or "We don't exactly know yet." Finally - Leah's furniture was delivered on Wednesday!!! The weather has been so oppressively hot that she can't sleep in her room yet, but at least she can start to spend a little time in there to get used to it. Here are the highlights:

Hi All! We're trying to include the best photos here & stories here, but as you can imaginethis child could be described as "overphotographed"....so picking the highlights can be a challenge. Leah visited her friend Anna last night. We are still trying to get a photo of them together, but it goes without saying that it is hard to get a 3 week old & a 6 week old awake & happy at the same time! FYI - I realized that the blog settings had been preventing most of you from commenting. We have remedied that situation, and look forward to comments from all of you!

Leah says: "I'll nap if you pay me 1 MILLION DOLLARS!!" (For those who don't get the reference, please see "Austin Powers International Man of Mystery" for context).

Many of you have asked how the dogs are taking to Leah. The answer is "wonderfully". We call Buffett "the Bufflesitter", because he is always keeping a nurturing eye on Leah. He is quick to get our attention when she becomes upset (as if the crying baby hadn't already gotten our attention!). Jack is also doing well, though he is a lot more playful with Leah than Buffett is. Jack would very much like to use the bouncy seat and the playtime mat for himself. They are just his size, so we have been saying a lot of "No Jack" in regards to sharing Leah's things.

Here are Leah & Daddy as he introduces her to her first NFL game. It may only be preseason, and the Panthers weren't playing, but Daddy believes in starting them young. He was most pleased that Leah cried when the Dallas Cowboys were on the screen!

Growing in leaps & bounds

Leah had her 2 week doctor's visit today. She is up to a whopping 7lbs, 11 oz - which is fantastic. She has also grown more than an inch in length. The doctor declared her "fit as a fiddle", and released her until September 21, unless something come up between now & then. Below are few more photos from the past few days:

Here is Leah with Honey on her second Shabbat dinner at Bubbe & Honey's house.

Leah has had a bunch more visitors this week. Here she is with her Auntie Anne McNeil, and cousin Jonathan. Other visitors included: cousins Andy, Amanda & Chuck, as well as family friends Lou & Paula. What can we say, this girl is popular.

Finally, here are some pics of the princess with her eyes open. Anyone who has tried to photograph a newborn lately knows what a challenge this is! Her eyes aren't open often, and when they are, the camera flash makes them close pretty fast. Hopefully we'll get some better pictures in the next few weeks - just need to take advantage of that natural sunlight when it isn't 900 degrees outside!

Leah's Daddy had to go back to work this week. He would much rather be home with Mommy & Leah, and they would rather have him home too! He will be working for about 3 weeks, then will have 2 weeks off to play with Leah when she is a little more awake. The doctor said that after 4 weeks, Leah can start to make bigger ventures out of the house - so we will start planning visits to the offices of United Way & CNN around that time. In the mean time, Leah & Mommy are looking for lunch or coffee dates, so give us a call! Keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to post photos of the furnished nursery by the end of next week. It's a REALLY long story, but I swear I ordered the furniture in plenty of time!! Hope to see and/or hear from you soon! - J

New, Improved, Cordless Model

Leah's second week started pretty quietly. Here she personifies her laid-back personality. We hope that she continues to be this easy!

Here she is modeling some of her fashions courtesy of the Sims family.

The big visitor this week was Leah's Pop, who came from North Carolina to meet his first granddaughter over the weekend.

Leah made the step up to 3 oz. per feeding - watch this baby grow!

She lost her umbilical cord stump on Wednesday, so today was her first real bath. Surprisingly, she found being covered in warm water much less objectionable than she had the earlier sponge baths.

Leah will be spending her second Shabbat at Bubbe & Honey's house tomorrow night, and we're expecting visits from her Auntie Anne McNeil and several cousins over the weekend. We all look forward to seeing and/or hearing from you soon! - The Family Medeiros

Home again and popular!

Sorry we have not updated things in a few days. Here are all the latest photos! Jennie and Leah are doing well. Leah had her first doctors appointment on Wednesday, her fist big outing. We are all going on to Bubbe's of Friday for Shabbat supper, and that will be a much more fun outing. Thanks to everyone who has come to visit us at home or here on our blog.
