Family & Friends

Leah's calendar has been pretty full the past few days! One of the questions we still get the most from friends and family is: "How are the dogs with Leah?". We've said it before - they are great. Buffett loves to keep Leah company, and she lights up when she sees either one of the pups walk by. Here is a sweet moment I caught between Leah & Buffett.

Leah and Cousin Charlie are only only 7 weeks apart. Here are a few shots of the first time that they have gotten some real face-time with each other.

It only took 5 months, but we finally got a picture of Leah with Papa! She is a lucky little girl to have so many great grandparents around to love on her. She spent LOTS of time smiling at him across the dinner table tonight.

Here is Leah with Auntie Michelle. This was not their first meeting, but Leah pretty much slept through the last one! Leah had a blast with Michelle, and I think the feeling was mutual. We may just have a mutual admiration society here.

Mid-December

Happy December! Leah has had a good few weeks. She is enjoying all of her Hanukkah goodies. She is a rolling-over pro these days. In fact, Leah has spent so much time practicing this skill, that sleep has been less of a priority for a week or so (much to Mommy's dismay)! In the next few weeks, Leah will be making her first trip to her Daddy's homeland - North Cackalacky (aka North Carolina). There she will visit VV & Pop, and meet some friends, plus her aunt, uncles, and Great Granny. Busy times ahead!

Leah's friend, Anna Sims, gave her this t-shirt. While we generally agree with the sentiment, Leah proves here that sometimes girls drool too...

Leah's favorite part of this toy: the hip-hop zebra button on the keyboard. What can we say, the girl likes to bop!

After a busy day of drooling, and hanging out in the new saucer, Leah is wiped. It is hard work being 4 months old!

Here we see the elephant pricess, straight from her bath. Leah LOVES to look at herself in the mirror when she is wrapped up in this towel. Daddy makes it even more fun, as he can add cool elephant sound effects.

Happy Hanukkah

Here are some Leah and family photos from the past week. Included are her first Hanukkah (with parties at Bubbe's and at Aunt Sara's). There are also some photos of Leah's first encounter with rice cereal. Her final exciting first this week is that she rolled over from her back to her tummy for the first time. Of course, in typical stubborn Medeiros fashion - she did it when no one was in the room to see her in action! I left the room, and she was napping on her back....I came back 30 minutes later, and she was awake on her tummy. Please pardon any photos that need editing - we're still technically computer-less at home. - J

Catching Up

So, it has been a while...things in Atlanta are good but busy. We have had computer AND digital camera malfunctions over the past few weeks. Needless to say that this has inhibited my ability to update the blog. Below are some photos from Thanksgiving, including our visit to the Georgia Aquarium. There are also a couple of random shots including Leah's first sunglasses and her meeting with Emily W. Enjoy! Love, J

GA Aquarium & visit with Brad and Emily

Finally! The blogmaster got her act together (and is totally procrastinating), and put together a slide show of Leah's first trip to the Georgia Aquarium. She also had a great visit with Brad (aka Lamby 1.0) and Emily. She is heading back to the Aquarium after Thanksgiving, and based on how much she enjoyed the first trip, the next one should be fun too!

PS - I just realized that I misspelled "Beluga" on the slide show, but it is too much of a pain to go back and change it...so pardon my spelling!

A very special play date.

Leah had her first "real" playdate with cousin Sophie last weekend. Sophie has promised to teach Leah about princesses, and all of the other important things that little girls should know. In the mean time, it looks like both girls had fun getting to know eachother a little bit better. The only ones who may have had more fun were Bubbe & Leah's Mommy. It was a very, very sweet afternoon. - J

A girl for all seasons.

Hi All! Leah has been very busy, and her blogmaster (aka Mommy) has had a hard time keeping up! We have some great photos from Leah's weekend with Brad & Emily and her first visit to the Georgia Aquarium, but there are so many that they really merit a slide show. We promise to get those up soon. Leah's Auntie Shannon was here again over the weekend, so Leah's parade of company just keeps on coming. Following are some shots of Leah & her friend, Sam braving the cooler Fall weather for their weekly walk. Those fuzzy hats are pretty cute! There is also a very sweet photo of Leah with her furry-brother, Jack. Finally, we snuck a photo of Jack's Halloween costume in (duh, he's Captain Jack Sparrow). Once again, he was victorious in the All Creatures Animal Hospital costume contest. This makes our 3rd win in a row! In case you were worried, we have at least 4 more years of Jack-themed costumes lined up to follow the Jack-o-Lantern, Jackass, & Jack Sparrow that we have done so far. Love to you all! - J

Leah's Baby Naming

We have finally gotten the photos from the baby naming up. There are a few more floating around out there, but this is most of them. Clicking "View All Images" may make viewing easier.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween All!! We had some other really great photos, but Daddy got them stuck in Bubbe's digital picture frame (it's a long story). Now we have to figure out how to break the frame, without breaking the memory stick in order to get them back!
Hope you get lots of treats this Halloween! - J, A, & L

First Vacation

Leah is home from her first ever vacation. We visited the North Georgia Mountains for 3 nights this week, and Leah got a chance to experience some of the local color - figuratively and literally! The weather was gray and rainy most of the trip, but we were still able to take in the beautiful fall leaves, visit a local winery & pick up some Georgia-grown apples. Also, fyi - the baby naming was wonderful. Photos are on the way, we are just trying to compile from all of the photographers before we create a slideshow. - J

Rockin' Out

Leah experienced her first concert last weekend, at the Brookhaven Arts Festival. As you can see, she had a rockin' time in the Baby Bjorn - she slept for 3 hours straight!

If you need any proof about how sweet Buffett and Leah are together here is Buffett keeping her company as she shows off her first pair of jeans and her Bumbo seat.

Leah has a big weekend ahead of her. Her Veevee and Pop are coming to visit. Her baby naming is on Sunday, and on Monday Leah heads to the GA mountains for her first vacation. Look for photos to follow! - J

A new perspective

Here we find Leah sitting in her Bumbo Seat. This is the first week that she has really enjoyed sitting in the Bumbo, and as you can see - she loves it. She smiles wide, and loves to watch Jack and Buffett as they walk past. Sitting up straight offers a whole new perspective on the world. If Jack looks a little sad in this photo, it is because Leah is wearing footie pj's, which prevent him from licking her toes. We're working on Halloween ideas, so if anyone has any suggestions please comment. I wanted Leah to be a puppy & Jack to be a baby, but can't find a puppy costume small enough for Leah. Costume choices are limited when the babies are this size, and I'm just not that creative of a mommy!

Leah's other exciting first to report is that she spent her first night in her own room last night. Up until then, she hed been sleeping in a cradle in our room. I put her down in her crib at 9:00, and she went to sleep. She woke up about 20 minutes later, but after about 5 minutes of fussing, a pacifier had her back out before 9:30. Then she slept until 7:50 this morning without a peep! I think the move was much harder on me than it was on her!!!- J

Busy, busy girl.

So, it has been a while since we got something new put up here. Leah has been very busy with a full social schedule. Here she is enjoying the nice weather at Starbucks with Annie Duguid. Annie went to elementary school with Leah's Mommy, so they have known eachother for a long time! Aren't these girls pretty in pink?

Here are a few shots of Leah close up. First, that smile that is melting hearts all over Atlanta. The second photo is of Daddy's Sweetpea sleeping soundly in snuggly pajamas.

Leah had an exciting visitor this weekend. Her Auntie Kris came to visit from CT. Auntie Kris was excited to visit with Leah, and get a baby refresher, since she is expecting Baby Sprout in March. Leah's favorite part of the visit was story time, when Auntie Kris read several Sandra Boynton books to her.

Leah had shabbat dinner with Uncle Michael, Aunt Kim, & Cousin Charlie (Cousin Max was already in bed). We attempted to get a photo of Leah with Cousin Charlie. However, photographing an 11 week old & a 4 week old is challenging - someone is either eating, crying, or sleeping at all times. Here, they were both doing the same thing at once - sleeping!

Too Cute Not to Post

No huge news, but these pics were pretty special. One is a close up of Leah that is just too cute. The other is Leah hanging out with 91 year-old Sylvia Cooper - a very special lady who thinks Leah is pretty special too!

Right on Track

Leah had her 2 month doctor's appointment last week. She is growing well, and up to 10lbs, 2oz. She falls into the 50th percentile for height, 35th percentile for weight, and only the 8th percentile for head circumference. Her Daddy says "No wonder her neck is so strong - her noggin must be very easy to hold up since it is so small!". The doctor was very pleased with Leah's growth, and told us to keep doing what we're doing. That's great for Leah, but Mommy is starting to be a bit more ready for a consistent schedule. However, Leah is thriving and continues to be very flexible and easy...so Mommy will follow doctor's orders for a bit longer.

As you can see, Leah has had a pretty quiet week. Not too much else to report from here.

First Picnic

Today Leah had her first picnic at Chastain Park, with her friends Samuel Galbraith & Anna Sims. Mommies and babies all enjoyed a nice lunch, and the beautiful fall-preview weather that the Atlanta area is experiencing. Leah, Samuel & Anna have all "known eachother" for a while, since the mommies were part of the United Way preggo crew over the past few months. Today was the first time that the babies were all together outside of the womb! FYI - Leah is in the carrier with the flowered cover, Sam is in the middle, and Anna is on the other end. Sam already has the ladies fighting over him! - J
